Lisa Hughes, LCSW

Lisa Hughes, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with 15 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and families. She takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to help clients manage anxiety, build resilience, and navigate life transitions.

Lisa specializes in working with young adults during periods of change, including entering college, launching into adulthood, and adjusting to evolving family and social roles. She also works closely with parents and individuals who are exploring or processing an autism diagnosis—whether for themselves or their children—offering support and practical guidance tailored to individual needs.

In addition, Lisa has specialized experience in women’s mental health, including perinatal and postpartum anxiety and depression, as well as the emotional challenges that can arise during pregnancy and early parenthood.

Lisa earned her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Bachelor of Social Work, with a minor in Spanish, from Radford University. Her professional background includes serving as a clinical school social worker, where she provided individual and group counseling, trauma-informed care, special education consultation, and acute mental health case management.

Her clinical interests include anxiety and related disorders, Post-Partum Depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and school-related anxiety. She primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies within a family-systems framework.
