DBT-Informed

“Sometimes we cannot change the environment significantly, but we can perhaps alter the way in which we perceive it.”
– Dr. Marsha Linehan

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that teaches important coping skills to help clients regulate difficult and intense emotions as well as problematic thoughts and behaviors. DBT can be especially helpful for clients who are struggling with interpersonal relationships and the ability to interact effectively with others. This type of therapy incorporates concepts of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, validation, acceptance, interpersonal effectiveness, and dialectics (balancing two seemingly contradictory ideas or beliefs).

Although CABC works with clients to incorporate DBT skills into the therapeutic experience, we do not provide the full, manualized program that other practices in the area do offer. If you are looking for a DBT-specific treatment modality, we are happy to provide resources and referrals to other programs with whom we partner.
