Who We Treat
Children & Adolescents
Unfortunately, mental health disorders are very common in children and adolescents. In fact, in any given year, 13% of children between the ages of 8 and 15 will experience a mental health disorder. Furthermore, 46% of children will experience a mental health disorder at some point between the ages of 13 and 18.
Anxiety disorders have the earliest age of onset (median age of 11) of any class of mental health disorders. Of children between the ages of 13 and 18, 8% currently have an anxiety disorder, and 25% of these children will have an anxiety disorder during these years. Almost 6% of these children have a “severe” anxiety disorder. Tragically, only 18% of these teens receive appropriate treatment. Thankfully, researchers have identified treatments that are highly effective for the majority of children and teens who experiencing these challenges.
We offer a range of specialized services for children as young as three years of age through late adolescence who are experiencing mental health difficulties. These services are tailored for a child’s developmental stage and incorporate high levels of praise and other positive reinforcement to help the child feel motivated to actively participate in the treatment.
Adults
We know that 29% of adults will experience an anxiety disorder during their lifetimes. Unfortunately, far fewer will receive the highly effective treatments that have been developed to treat these individuals. We utilize state of the art cognitive behavioral therapy for adults living with anxiety that include education about anxiety, coping skills training, and exposure therapy.
