School Refusal Training for Mental Health Providers
The Center for Anxiety & Behavioral Change (CABC) is excited to offer a School Refusal Training Institute (SR-TI). Dr. Lindsay Scharfstein will lead an 8-session, consultation series for mental health providers of youth who refuse school.
The SR-TI course will delineate evidence-based cognitive behavioral (CBT) approaches to the assessment and treatment of school refusal. Techniques will address underlying emotional concern(s) and simultaneous school re-entry. There will be ample opportunity for case discussion and consultation.
The sessions will take place on a monthly basis throughout the school year. The current SRTI session is underway, and we are accepting applications for future courses.

Selective Mutism Training Series for Professionals
A 4-session, training series on Selective Mutism is now offered to professionals. The sessions will cover a deeper understanding of Selective Mutism, evidenced-based behavioral techniques, such as fading, shaping, and exposures, and effective collaboration with caregivers and schools. All levels of experience working Selective Mutism are welcome. The total cost is $100, and all proceeds go towards a scholarship fund to support a child with Selective Mutism to attend Confident Kids Camp-DC Metro. Continuing Education credits are available for $25 for psychologists and any discipline where APA-approved programs are accepted.
The series will meet for 4 sessions on Mondays from 12pm-1pm, on the following dates: March 23, April 20, May 18, June 1
