Kristin Bianchi, PhD

Dr. Kristin Bianchi is a licensed psychologist who specializes in treating OCD, anxiety disorders, and body-focused repetitive behaviors such as Excoriation Disorder (skin-picking) and Trichotillomania (hair-pulling). She earned her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude with a double major in Spanish and Psychology and a minor in French. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Dr. Bianchi spent three years abroad living and studying in Mexico and France. Upon returning to the U.S., Dr. Bianchi earned a masters degree in psychology from Wake Forest University, then a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from American University.

She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the American University Counseling Center, then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington (BTC). Following completion of her fellowship, Dr. Bianchi remained at the Behavior Therapy Center for an additional four and a half years, gaining valuable experience in the treatment of OCD, Trichotillomania, and Excoriation Disorder.
Dr. Bianchi provides clinical services to clients ages 18+. She has a strong interest in the trans-diagnostic intersection of disgust, shame, guilt, and embarrassment. Alongside her primary areas of specialty, Dr. Bianchi has extensive experience treating generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, and depression. More recently, she has expanded her scope of practice to include trauma, bereavement, and late-identified Autism. She is passionate about educating the community on mental health, and enjoys giving talks to diverse audiences. She has appeared on the Dr. Oz Show, the Kojo Nnamdi Show, and Nat Geo Explorer, and she has been quoted in various media outlets including: CNN.com, Market Watch, Vice, HuffPost, and Psychology Today.
In her free time, she can be found cheering loudly for the Ravens, the Orioles, and U.S. Soccer (women and men). She enjoys OrangeTheory classes and listening to sports podcasts while taking long walks. She’s on a perpetual quest to improve her fantasy football lineups, so please let her know if you have any scoop!
