Christina Diaz, PsyD

Dr. Christina Diaz is a licensed psychologist who earned her doctorate degree in school psychology from Rutgers University. During her time at Rutgers, she gained clinical experience in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, community mental health centers, and college counseling centers. Additionally, she was a research assistant on a state-funded study that sought to assess and improve the quality of child welfare evaluations completed for the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency.

Dr. Diaz completed her doctoral internship at the UC Davis CAARE Center where she specialized in evidence-based, trauma-informed assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. Following her internship, she completed a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at the Behavior Management Clinic of the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

As a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Diaz gained further experience providing evidence-based treatments including behavioral parent training, exposure therapy, and habit reversal training. Upon obtaining licensure, Dr. Diaz also became a certified provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

Dr. Diaz has worked with individuals across the lifespan and places great emphasis on a culturally humble, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to treatment. She prioritizes authenticity during sessions and strives to help clients find meaning in the journey that is life. Dr. Diaz has expertise in treating anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), disruptive behavior disorders, school refusal, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Additionally, Dr. Diaz conducts psychological evaluations for ASD, ADHD, and other presenting concerns.

In addition to her direct clinical work at CABC, Dr. Diaz also serves at the Director of the Community Accessibility Program (CAP). The mission of CAP is to partner with community organizations to provide high quality, culturally humble mental health services to traditionally underrepresented groups. From 2023-2024, Dr. Diaz was a Fellow in the Maryland Psychological Association’s Leadership Development Academy where she honed her skills with the goal of becoming a leader in the field of psychology in the greater DMV area and beyond.

Outside of the office, Dr. Diaz enjoys spending time with her cats (Duchess and Mortimer), cooking, trying new restaurants, reading, playing video games, volunteering, and going to concerts.
